That time has come, the anticipation is over, the long winded wait has finally come to an end Football Manager Mobile 2018 has finally been released and we are genuinely excited for the new series of the much loved virtual football manager game. We’ve had a good couple of hours on it and we are seriously impressed with the new version of the game.
but as avid fans of the series we know with every new game there are improvements, removals and complete overhauls on features as the game continues to improve.
User Interface
As you click the app to start you’ll notice that the interface has a darker more sophisticated look. We personally like it as it feels a lot better on the eyes especially if you play it for hours at a time.
With new user interface will make it easier to control your team.
Manager Start-up
As you start a new game you now have the option of choosing your gender, we feel this is a good little feature to add as we have both male and female fans of the game. We like how the startup now looks it’s a lot more simplistic and easier to navigate through and with the option of being able to select a previous manager profile it also adds to the speed that SI have kept as the core feature of the game.
Onto league selections, you will notice that two more nations have been added in USA and South Korea, the MLS has been a sought after playable league for a long time now and we for one glad to see it’s inclusion. South Korea is going to be an enjoyable save in our personal opinion with it being relatively unknown to a good selection of football fans across the globe(minus the Asian population and the select few of hardcore football fans) this could set a really good challenge for any seasoned veteran or beginner to ply their managerial career. On top of this any nation you select you are now able to select multiple leagues(if applicable) which has been a feature that has been longed for for a couple of years now. This is a great inclusion into the game especially if you are like us and like the option of being able to manage anywhere and any league, the positive side to this goes beyond being able to go from Premier League to a PT Championship club in Portugal. With being able to load more leagues gives the option of a bigger in-game player database meaning more little gems to be found.
Minor Additions/Upgrades
Team reports
A more in-depth team report meaning you’ll have a better insight in team strengths and weaknesses, which position/area needs improving and also information on squad depth. We like this although we tend to know what we need and don’t need, this is still a great little tool to help know exactly what your weaknesses are. There are many occasions where we have bought a replacement CB to actually realise it was your defensive mid making silly mistakes putting pressure on your CBs.
Starting manager reputation
Unknown manager reputation has now been added meaning a harder start for us veterans of the game. We feel like this is a fantastic little addition. We’ve started a save as an unknown manager with a top club and a lot of the players at the start were unhappy with me from the off and thought we lacked experience to guide them. Trying to hang onto unhappy players as you start your managerial career into the top flight whilst trying to win the players and fans over will be a difficult challenge in itself but one we look forward to achieving.
Released players and youths recommendation
At the start of every new season(excluding the first season you start) your scout will now inform you of any players or youths that have been released by their previous clubs. We personally feel this feature is a brilliant addition especially if you are a manager who likes the challenge of a taking on a team who are working within a wage and transfer budget or a club whose reputation is not high enough to attract the big time stars. It can certainly help to either build funds for the future or give you that much need squad depth, it can be taken advantage of in numerous ways and we are sure it will be a successful addition.
Team/Player awards upgrade
With a brand new awards system in place, you will now notice that team/manager/player awards will closely reflect real life. Think this was needed to be honest with you so often We have gone months undefeated, smashing teams like they didn’t even exist to not even get manager of the month or one of your players going on a run of 25 goals in 6 games and not even making the POTY shortlist. Also team of the week has been added in as well.
Scouts and physios
Had a club legend retire for them to be a poor scout/physio? Now they can improve as you and your club progress forward gone are the days of having to put up with bronze rated physios/scouts. Great little update for this feature to be honest with you guys, our staff turnover for physios and scouts was massively high so we’re glad this upgrade has come along.
Onto the main focal point we have left this till last purposely as we think this is a massive game changer that we think a lot of you FMM heads will be happy with.
Upgraded Tactics
We are absolutely over the moon with this upgrade. With the AI having been improved the tactics needed it too and boy didn’t SI improve it..
We now have improved player roles meaning you will need to find the right formation for your team, new and improved team instructions meaning more control on the way our team will play and with an upgraded UI it makes controlling your team as manager easier but that doesn’t mean it’ll be easy to win, you are looking for the perfect balance to match your squad’s ability whilst still looking to improve as a team.
As manager of your chosen team you are now able to go into more depth with the tactical side of things, you are now able to select the way your team attack or defends. With more options for team mentality potential losses could be turned into draws and potential draws could be turned into wins it’s all about giving you more control as manager which realistically we all want from this game.
